this week, Michael, Matt, and Michelle were joined by Learn With Less’ Ayelet Marinovich! Ayelet’s kids have returned to in person school this week. Michelle received her second shot of the vaccine. Michael celebrated Earth Day. Matt took his son’s Cub Scout pack to the Reds Stadium for a tour and goes off on the hospital that mis-charted his daughter’s hearing loss.

Episode 135, the first episode of season 5 was supposed to be just one over sized episode but it grew to almost 2 hours so it is now episodes 135 and 136! On this first episode the crew recaps their winter breaks, including Michelle welcoming in a new born baby girl and Matt’s family getting Covid.
On today’s show, Rachel Archambault joins the crew to talk about stress in the second half of the school year. The crew also take a deep dive into their experience with Covid. Matt, Michael, and Michelle check in following Turkey day. Michelle is prepping for the arrival baby speech science 2.0. Michelle and her family have jumped into Christmas as early as possible. It’s a special Thanksgiving Episode, where the crew look back at what they are thankful during a year that involved a pandemic, emergency tele-practice, and self-quarantines. Michelle is already prepping for her next move from Kansas to parts of the country unknown and she preps for a new baby speech science coming next month. She is also weaning her son off of his pacifier and sleeping in his “big boy bed.” Matt documents what its like being on the parent side of the table when dealing with Help Me Grow and school districts and he discusses how early interactions can sour parent/therapist relationships as the student gets older. Michael is handling the transition as schools in his area look to move back online in preparation for increased COVID numbers following the holiday.

After taking a few weeks off following the elections, Matt, Michael, and Michelle come back together. The group discusses the ordeal of voting in their individual precincts. Matt is coming to terms with his reports being too long checking in at over 12 pages. Michelle and her family were enjoying the unseasonable warm weather in the beginning of November. Michael has noticed an increase in virtual cases as Covid numbers increase near his clinic.
